| I have taught K-2, Title 1 and gifted clustered students for 33 years in the Becker School District. I presently love teaching in a First Grade classroom where the students keep me young and laughing. Daily my students learn to use technology and enjoy using the class website (http://www.gayleberthiaume.com/FGO) for Internet inquiries, to display their work and to communicate with their parents. For the past 13 years as a consultant and trainer, with a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, I have been helping teachers throughout the nation learn about technology, the Internet and creative uses for them in the classroom. I was the 2003-2004 Grade 1-2 Teacher Mentor on Scholastic.com. I serve on Scholastics National Advisory Board and the Apple Learning Interchange Editorial Review Board and the Apple Distinguished Educator National Advisory Board. I am also on the International Reading Association's Technology, Literacy and Communication committee. As a researcher and developer for the Minnesota Teacher Network, I am working to help other teachers throughout the state communicate and learn online. I have received numerous awards for my innovative teaching including Apple Distinguished Educator, Apple Learning Interchange Recognized Author, Classroom Connects Internet Educator of the Year 2002 -Central Region, Inspiration Softwares Scholarship for Visual Learning, the USWest/NEA Minnesota Teacher Network award and Becker School District Teacher of the Year. I have exhibits featuring my students on the Apple Learning Interchange.
