General Activities:
Teacher reads some of Mexico A to Z. Then read Amigo Means Friend.
Ask students to help you remember the difference between fiction and non-fiction books (brainstorm ideas and write on board). Students split into teams of 4-5 students. Teams are to decide which book is fiction and which is non fiction. Two students in the team write 3-4 sentences about why their choice for fiction is fiction. The other two students in the team write 3-4 sentence about why their choice for non-fiction is in fact non-fiction. Each team shares their ideas with the class.
Discussion Questions:
Is there someone in school you like to be with at recess? Someone after school, at home? What do you call that person? (friend) Are friends good to have? What do you think you would call that person if you lived in Mexico?

What do you know that reminds you of.....

Evaluation:
The student can tell which information is fiction and which is non-fiction.
