The students will dictate or write some of what happened in our classroom that day. We’d like to share our adventures with you.

September 6
We made a Manners Star. We learned the gingerbread song. We played tag in phy. ed. We read Don't Need Friends. We got classroom jobs.
September 7
We painted a scarecrow. We wrote in our journal. We made a poem. We read The Gunnywolf. We read The Prinipal's New Clothes. We have a new lunchtime. It is at 11:20.September 8
It was Spencer's birthday. He brought a good snack for us. We got a math book. We finished making a scarecrow. We learned to play Rock, Paper, Scissor Tag in gym.
September 12
We had keyboarding with Mrs. Smith. We read Zoophabets. We made fast and slow lines for art. We went to the library.
September 13
We read So Can I. We got handwriting books. We wrote rhyming words. We learned how to use the computer stations.
September 14
We had a fire drill. It was loud! We read poems. Ms. Pederson talked with us about how she can help us if we have problems. We started to read Junie B. Jones First Grader.
September 15
We had ANOTHER fire drill! We read One Gorilla. We read We'd Better Make a List. We made a large gorilla with a list of what we love.
September 16
We watched "Koko's Kitten". We were sad when All Ball, the kitten, died. Koko can use sign language. We made a Koko book. We made a leaf collage. We had Speak Up!
September 22
We painted a background with watercolors. We played football in phy ed. We played note cards in music. We talked and wrote about the storm last night. We wrote words in ABC order.
September 26
We read A Perfect Day. We took a math test. It was not hard. We learned the letter g in handwriting. We watched "Milk and Cookies". It was about how milk is made and bottled. It was also how chocolate chip cookies are made and packaged in a factory.
September 27
We read poems about farm animals. We learned a math number grid game. We learned the letter c in handwriting. We read lots of farm books. We talked about our trip to Earthway Farm.
September 28
We were supposed to go to Earthway Farm but it was too rainy and muddy. We got to eat out trip lunches in our room. We made farm books. We finished work we hadn't finished yet. We cleaned our desks. We played a number game in math.
September 30
We read Freddy’s Tooth Trouble. We played the Two-Fisted Penny game. We learned March of the Germs in music. We moved our desks. We learned to write 0 and 9 in math. We read Squirrels All Year Long.
October 3
We went to the media center. We had keyboarding. We went to Earthway Farm! We saw goats. We made a rope. We held and heard rabbits. We saw a baby llama that was only 7 days old. We also saw two adult llamas. We went on a hay ride. We did a barn dance and saw a puppet show. We ate our lunches in the hay loft of the barn but there wasn’t any hay there.
October 4
We did the Two-Fisted Penny game. We played Dodgeball in gym. We wrote and drew a picture about Earthway Farm. We got new jobs. We switched the calendar to October.
October 5
We played the Onset and Rimes game. We played Dodgeball. We read more of Freddy’s Tooth Trouble. We made a clock. We watched a germ video. We learned how to wash our hands to get germs off them. We checked how well we washed them with the Glow Bug. It has a black light that lets us see where we missed washing our hands.
October 6
We voted for our favorite book of the month. These books won: 1. Zoophabets 2. Airmail to the Moon 3. The Real Tooth Fairy. We played the Onset and Rime game. We solved a deductive reasoning puzzle. We hit the Big Red ball in gym. We sang Down on Grandpa's Farm. We did a world map with hats. We had a test in handwriting. We learned to make stars.
October 7
Today was our Fun Run! We did a Tug-of-War. We ran too much. We had Speak Up! We had an early dismissal. We played Onset and Rime board games. We had a perfect day.
October 10
We had a fire drill today. We made letter books. We had a substitute teacher. We played Rock, Paper, Scissors in math. We went to Media. We had computer lab. We had Keyboarding in music. It is a sunny day. We ate salad and chicken nuggets for lunch. We had fun all day. Everyone is here today.
October 11
We went to the fire station. We worked on our letter books. We had a fire drill. We had skateboarding and rollerblading. We wrote about our trip to the farm.
October 12
Mrs. Wiant taught us how to observe like scientists. We observed peanuts. We went to the computer lab and drew fire station pictures with KidPix. We had another Wheels day in phy ed, but we got a new path. We made a Fire! Fire! book. We had a math centers day.
October 13
We watched a fire truck video. We did math boxes in our math books. We did a music sheet. We talked about smoke blocked exits for a fire drill and what we should do if there is one. We learned about intruder alerts. We will practice having an intruder alert tomorrow. We had another Wheel Day in phy ed. We finished our fire dogs. We did a following directions fire truck.
October 17
We made letter books. We counted by 5's. We learned the letter l in handwriting. We made a pumpkin collage. We are listening to Charlotte's Web.
October 19
We learned about variants in color with Mrs. Wiant. We read in our guided reading books. We had pumpkin math centers with Mrs. Backes' class.
October 24
We had keyboarding and library. We made hanging pumpkins. We went to the computer lab.
October 25
We learned about spiders. We read The Foot Book.
October 26
We made spiders. We read The Witch at the Window. We did our math books. We had gym. We did the calendar. We had a great day.
October 28
We played Pumpkin Probability. We read pumpkin books. We brought something orange for Speak Up!
October 31
We did a lot of pumpkin activities! We folded paper for science. We went to keyboarding and library.
November 2
We got new guided reading books. We learned the letter u in handwriting. We learned how to do origami. We folded a house. We made hanging turkeys.
November 3
We learned the letter w in handwriting. We did more origami. We folded a paper cup that we really drank from!
November 7
Miss Kusterman is back! We made newspaper hats and painted them. We learned the letter y in handwriting. We had keyboarding and library.
November 9
We decorated our paper hats. We made paper out of toilet paper. Our teacher lost her voice. We had a fantastic day.
November 11
It was Trevor's birthday. We had gym in the Intermediate school. We did three pages in our math books. We had Share Day. We made paper mache' bowls.
November 14
We went to the library. We put another layer on our paper mache' bowls. We went to keyboarding. We learned the letter m in our handwriting books. We learned to tell time to the half hour. We had a marvelous Monday!
November 16
We painted our paper mache' bowls. We made woven placemats. We played with the parachute in phy ed. We learned the word chunks -ell and -est. We practiced our handwriting. It was a wonderful Wednesday!
November 17
We made turkey hats. We learned about using fingerspelling to practice writing words. We went to phy ed and music. We went to a Thanksgiving feast.
November 18
We had a short day because the Becker Bulldog football team is going to the Metrodome to play in the tournament. They came to the gym today. We didn't have gym or music. We did math centers. We played money bingo. We had Speak Up!
November 21
Miss Kustermann taught us about diabetes. Now we know why she has to have a snack sometimes. We had a program in the gym with Mr. Christensen. We saw the movie of our Thanksgiving feast.
November 22
We played Turkey probability. We did turkey centers all day.
December 1
We learned about homes and needs. We read The Relatives Came. We had a test in math. We read Jump and Jiggle. It was Miss Kustermann's birthday. We made a Countdown Santa. We made a classbook of how we have changed.
December 2
It was Victoria's birthday. Tomorrow is Mrs. Berthiaume's birthday. We had Literature Circles. We talked about our books and did projects to share them with the class. It was a fun day!
December 5
Mrs. Berthiaume was at the TIES Conference. We did family skits. We read Measuring Penny and Alexander is Not Going to Move. We made light bulbs out of paper and glitter. We had Media.
December 6
We read The Millions Book and I Love My Family. We made our family tree. We had centers.
December 8
Mrs. Wiant came and taught us about watercolor resist and three dimensional shapes. We learned about speech bubbles today. We had mozzarella sticks for lunch in line 1. We had a substitute teacher in gym. We learned about timelines and made our own timeline.
December 11
We did number families in math. We read the story "Sitting in My Box". We made three dimensional boxes and glued them to our writing paper. We wrote about sitting in our box and what was inside. We took DIBELS tests. We had keyboarding. We read The Terrible Thing.
December 12
We had guided reading groups and centers. We did two-fisted penny addition. We painted a project. We had keyboarding.
December 13
We learned about measuring with feet in math. We had gym and music. We had guided reading groups and centers.
December 14
We had a two hour late start because of the snow. We wrote about what we learned about our families. We had rollerblading in gym. We painted a project. We recorded the Alphabet Backwards poem using microphones.
December 20
We voted on our favorite books for November and December. The Polar Express won for December. SkippyJon Jones won for November. We made cards for our parents or grandparents. We colored nutcrackers in music. We played Balls of Holly on our rollerblades in phy ed.
