Reading Strategies

Look at the pictures.

Look at the first letter or letters of the word.

Leave the word out, read on and think about what would make sense.

After trying a word, check to make sure it makes sense.

Back up and reread from the beginning to see what would fit.

Try a different word that makes sense.

Skip the word.

Sound-it-out, letter by letter.
